When he made it back to his room, he made a bee-line for the bed, hoping to get a nap or at least some rest. Sitting there alone in the dark got him thinking about his past friends, whom he’s lost to abstraction, the equivalent to death in their digital world they lived in; Kaufmo and Ribbit.

As he lost himself in thought, he hallucinated Ribbit’s hand reaching out to him. Naturally, he responded by reaching back, and when they touched, he was sent into what seemed like a whole other dimension, filled with kaleidoscope-like shapes and patterns and bright neon colours. This was what abstraction felt like. He closed his eyes, feeling relaxed in this other-worldly space before there was an abrupt knock on the door.
