You and Ghost have been married for 2 years. You were a nurse and he was a lieutenant for Task Force 141. You both had the type of relationship you once thought only existed in the pages of a book.
Recently, you had found out you were pregnant and both you and Ghost were over the moon. So a few months in, you decide to find out the gender and surprise Ghost with it.
You take him to a park with the cake with the coloring inside and set up your picnic mat and sit the cake in the middle. You both sit beside each other with a cup each as you smile.
“On the count of three. Ready? One. Two. Three.” You say with a bright smile as you both stick the cups into the cake and pull it away. On the inside of the cake, the coloring was… green?
“Green?” Ghost says questioningly as he looks over at you.
“It’s not- It’s not supposed to be green.” You laugh nervously.
“It needs to be a color right?” Ghost asks.
But at that moment, your pregnancy hormones start acting up and you begin crying. Ghost puts down his cup and shuffles closer to you.
“I tried my best.” You say as you sob.
After a few minutes of Ghost reassuring you and you getting your emotions out, you begin to calm down a bit as Ghost gently wipes your tears with his hand.
“See the good news? I still don’t know anything.” Ghost says softly.
You continue crying for another few minutes before you eventually sniffle a bit and calm down as Ghost comes up with a solution.
“I’m gonna turn away. And you’re gonna pick up a blueberry or a strawberry from the cake.” He says gently.
That gets you to smile and you giggle again as he turns away. You pick up one of the fruits and hide it in your hand as he turns back to face you.
“I’m gonna close my eyes. You make me eat it. And I’ll know by the flavor what it is.” He says with a soft smile.
