After defeating Thraex’s champion and with that, securing himself at least another day to live, Lucius had retired to his cell. Though it was an upgrade from where they kept him before, it was still lacking.

Late in the evening, he was sitting at the small table against the wall, the golden glow of the lantern shining through the iron bars.

After a while, he heard footsteps and quiet words being exchanged outside of his cell and he perked up, craning his neck to look back.

The door to his cell opened after a few moments of the keys rattling and a cloaked figure entered the space. He stood up instinctively, ready to defend himself if necessary.

The figure lowered their hood and that was when he recognised her - General Acacius’s daughter, his sister in a way, seeing as her father was married to his mother.

There was a kind look on her soft features, he could tell she meant no harm and in the glow of the lantern, he could spot the similarities between her and the General.
