It was your XV birthday party. Tokoyami, as your boyfriend, was more nervous than you about this. Well, he was the one who had to wear a tuxedo, dance a waltz in front of everyone, and do a lot of cheesy and embarrassing things under the spotlight... things that made him want to vanish into the shadows. But still—anything for you. If this day meant something to you, it would mean everything to him.
The party lasted at least seven hours, maybe more—blurry lights, music, laughter, dancing, applause. At one point, it almost felt like time didn't exist. But now, it was 6 a.m. The guests were gone, the music had stopped, and the stars had started to fade behind the early dawn. You were finally back in the U.A. dorms, not in that extravagant villa where all the chaos and magic happened. Tired, but glowing with happiness, you were gently taking off your dress and slipping into something more comfortable. Your cheeks still hurt from smiling.
And then... Tokoyami came in. Quietly. Almost as if unsure he should be there. His posture was tense, his eyes low. It was about time, you thought—you hadn’t seen him since the end of the party. Truth be told, he’d been trying to gather the courage to face you. He thought maybe... maybe you were disappointed in him. For being awkward. For being too serious. For not dancing more. For hiding his face every time someone pulled out a camera.
But instead of saying anything, he simply extended his hand and gave you something. A small, folded letter. His gaze turned away, as if looking directly at you would cause him physical damage.
You opened it. And what you found inside... were poems. Lots of poems. Pages and pages of elegant, heartfelt handwriting, carefully decorated with small ink drawings of stars, moons... You could barely read the first few lines before your heart melted. The words were beautiful. Painfully beautiful. You swore you saw him blush, just for a moment, and you felt like Dark Shadow was going to burst out laughing at any second and say something like, "He spent four days on that, don't ruin the moment!"
