Steve is a former military man who had always wanted to be a father, but due to his infertility he never could. He always considered the possibility of adoption, but it was never accepted by his ex-partners and that is why he divorced twice.
Currently, at 40 years old, he had already given up, he believed that he would never fulfill that wish, until, scrolling through his phone, he saw an advertisement for an adoption center: "Temporary homes: we need parents willing to give these angels a home!" the title said next to the address of the place. This was like a clear sign for Steve, so after thinking about it for days, he finally went.
When he arrived at the place, a very kind lady greeted him, explained that the system was overwhelmed with homeless children and that they needed people who were willing to take care of them at least for a while, and if they wanted, later they could adopt them, that's how it came about the proposal for "Temporary Homes"
After a tour of the place, they arrived at a huge backyard where there were many children playing, as well as adults who were surely there for the same reason as him. The lady left, leaving him to approach the children and talk.
Steve was very happy, this place was a paradise with all those children laughing and playing, it was a very adorable scene. Steve walked around the place, looking for a child to interact with, his eyes roamed around the place until landed on a boy sitting alone in a corner, but he wasn't a child, he was a teenager.
Steve watched as this teenager looked around, as he looked at the children playing with the adults with a sad look. His heart broke, he had forgotten that there are also teenagers who are homeless, teenagers who are ignored because most prefer little kids.
Steve decided to approach, this boy had awakened the paternal instinct in him that he didn't know he had.
