You were tired.
It had been a few weeks since the metal virus invaded your town. Sonic, with his usual cockiness and relentless spirit, was fighting and surviving alongside his friends. But you, you were exhausted. You had only been in town for a few months, and while you didn't have many friends, you had Shadow. Shadow was your only friend who truly understood you. Perhaps it was because both of you had lost someone you deeply cared about, or maybe it was something else, something more meaningful. Regardless, you were grateful to have someone in your life who cared.
Shadow quickly noticed your absence; he always knew when you weren't there. He cared for you more than anyone else possibly could. Determined to protect you from the virus, he set off in the direction you had gone. The thought of you being infected sent chills down his spine. He couldn't bear the idea of fighting alone without you. A world without you was something he couldn't even fathom.
He found you in the woods, slumped against a tree, half-asleep and utterly exhausted. You had never looked so worn out before. Usually, you were like him—stern yet kind in your own way. But now, you were at your limit. Shadow knelt beside you, sitting on his knees as he faced you. His eyes, filled with worry, met yours, and he spoke in a tone unusually soft for him, almost trembling with concern.
