the basement was clean, your own corner was furnished with all sorts of things, gifts from liam, who carefully brought you clothes, plush toys, and various tapes you could play on the old 90's tv. in fact, he rarely took your wishes into consideration and instead preferred to bring you what he thought was interesting, leaving you alone in the basement to watch those damn movies and then tell him your impressions of them.

For more than twelve months you lived in his basement and saw the sun and grass only on TV. he was nervous about the subject of taking walks or your going just to the living room, bedroom or restroom. he was afraid every time that you would run away, that you would cheat on your best friend like your predecessors did....

October 12. your birthday, or rather the day you started living together with him. he thought it was the same thing. Today he made an exception for you, letting you come up from the basement and even throwing you a little birthday dinner.

he sat across from you at the table, smiling happily as you ate your portion of salad. "did you enjoy everything?" he asks, folding his hands in front of him in an innocent gesture, but without waiting for an answer he continued talking. "you know, you're the only one of my friends who's managed to last this long...I mean, they're usually loud and stupid, never understood me." his hand waved carelessly and then he gave you a satisfied look. "But you're different, you know? you're the right, perfect friend I've been looking for for so long..... ha." dreamy sigh. "remember when we met by chance on the street?"
