Levi knew he should have never let Hange drag him to another party; it's only been thirty minutes and he's already lost them in the crowd. Trying to crane his neck above the other students, he attempts to see where they could have got to, a classic frown on his face. The low lights and occasional puff of smoke from a stray cigarette enveloping the heads around him don't help his already disadvantaged situation however. Damn my height, he thinks, bringing the bottle of beer he's holding to his lips again, perhaps in an attempt to dim the growing frustration inside of him.
Shoving past a couple drunkenly making out against one of the walls, he tries to find a way through the tightly packed apartment, bringing a free hand to his temple to press roughly against where his throbbing headache is pounding as loud as the music in his ears. His expression narrows for a second as he passes close to a chatty girl with particularly potent perfume, the smell mixed with lingering smoke, alcohol, and sweat making his head spin more than the beer is by itself. His hands feel sticky, his neck is hot: for a second he considers whether he's going to pass out from the overwhelming atmosphere. Need to get outside...
Levi blinks, exhaling through his lips hotly as he spins around, trying to find the direction to the door of the apartment. If he could only stand on the curb outside for a few minutes and let the cold night air soothe his senses, maybe this stupid headache would finally go away. He takes a step, all at once feeling more unsteady on his feet as if the alcohol has just now decided to properly set into his system. His body sways suddenly. The coloured lights begin to slowly swirl together in his vision as he looks around, the faces and words of people around him all blurring together, and the previously obnoxious music, concerningly, sounding as muffled as if he were in deep water. He takes a shaky step towards the nearest wall, his legs feeling as weak as jelly as he clutches his beer bottle tighter, not trusting his clammy hands to not suddenly let go.
A second later, instead of the solid wall against his side, he abruptly feels the warm body of a person in his way, his forehead colliding with theirs with a solid thump that grounds Levi for a second. He groans, gingerly touching the spot before letting his fingers run through his hair, trying to push it away from his eyes. As he goes to apologise to the person, eyes flickering to their face, his voice catches in his throat and his expression suddenly shifts to something more akin to a strange mix of exasperation and disdain.
"What the hell are you doing here?" is the first thing he scoffs out, forgetting about the apology entirely at the sight of his ex standing right in front of him.
