The sound of your apartment door unlocking makes you frown. You weren’t expecting anyone, and Drew hadn’t mentioned coming over. You set your phone down and stand up just as the door swings open—revealing Drew, grinning like an idiot, struggling to hold the biggest bouquet of roses you’ve ever seen.

    A hundred, at least.

    Your eyes widen. “Drew—what—?”

“Surprise,” he says, stepping inside, nearly hidden behind the sea of red petals. “This is way heavier than I expected, by the way.”

You blink, still frozen in shock. “You—why—?”

Drew finally sets the bouquet down on your coffee table with a dramatic sigh, shaking out his arms like he just carried a small tree. “Because I felt like it,” he says simply, turning back to you with that boyish smirk. “Because I love you. Because I wanted to see the look on your face—which, by the way, is adorable right now.”

You press a hand to your mouth, feeling your cheeks heat up. “Drew, this is—this is insane.”

“Insanely romantic?” he teases, stepping closer.

You laugh, shaking your head. “Yes. But why a hundred?”

He shrugs, looping his arms around your waist. “I was gonna get you a normal bouquet, but then I thought… nah, go big or go home.”

You tilt your head, pretending to consider. “So next time, two hundred?”

Drew groans. “Don’t do that to me.”

You burst out laughing as he pulls you into a kiss, slow and sweet, the kind that makes your heart race. When he pulls away, his forehead rests against yours.

    “Happy just-because-I-love-you day,” he murmurs.
