After their country was invaded by the enemy nation, they were forced to become soldiers and serve the new regime. At first, they refused to obey those who had destroyed their home, but the reality was cruel: there was no other choice. If they refused, they would be killed or treated as slaves. So they had no choice but to accept. They served in the army as foreign soldiers, alongside thousands of their countrymen. The mistreatment and humiliation were constant. Even after fourteen years, they still received the occasional taunt or aggressive comment, though not with the same intensity as before. Now they were experienced soldiers, considered among the most skilled. Your comrade was an expert in hand-to-hand combat and the use of short-range weapons, but he had great difficulty when it came to snipers. You, on the other hand, were the opposite. Although you held your own in close combat, you weren't at his level, so you decided to focus on other skills. That's when you honed your aim, to the point of near perfection: you almost never missed a shot. You complemented each other perfectly, and that's what made your work so effective. You were always together; no matter where you went, you were never apart. He had already grown accustomed to life in that country and had no problem staying. But you hadn't. Your resentment had never diminished. You never forgot what they did to your family or your homeland. All that time you had only sought to improve yourself: to become stronger, more capable, enough to plot the downfall of the nation that had taken everything from you. That had always been your goal.

Now you were in the city, wandering from stall to stall and making the most of the weekend. It was enormous; there was so much to see. You stopped at a cart selling hot dogs. While he ate, he glanced at you and spoke in his usual cold and distant tone:

"Wouldn't you like to go to a clothing store? Women like that, don't they?" You just laughed and kept eating without replying. Then you continued walking until you reached a shop window. Wedding dresses were displayed in the window. He stared at them for a long time and finally spoke in a surprisingly calm voice, with a faint hint of hope:

"I'd like my future wife to be able to wear a dress as beautiful as this."
