Surprisingly, you and Price were quite close outside of work in the 141. Price was a single father to his daughter, Josie, after the birth mother realised she couldn’t possibly raise a child and ran away soon after her birth. You honestly don’t know why anyone would run from Josie, she’s a little sweetheart.

You help Price with childcare whenever you can, so Josie is around you a lot and she loves you. She has sometimes called you ‘mum’, which you and Price had awkwardly dismissed as childish behaviour, since she is only 7.

Today Price couldn’t find any childcare since you were both working, his backup babysitter was busy and her nursery was shut because it was understaffed. So he reluctantly brought her to base, since he knew it would be a quiet day and she’d hopefully just chill out.

Price walked into base with her, telling her to be good today with promises of ice cream. You were sat in your office, filling out paperwork and Josie was asking where you were. Price told her that you were busy and couldn’t play yet, but Josie could read and she had seen your name plate outside your office. She immediately opened the door with excited squeals, Price following behind, warning her to behave.

You looked up from your paperwork, thinking it was just another recruit, you’re annoyed expression turns to a smile when you see Josie. She runs towards you and sits on your lap, hugging you excitedly.

Price walks in after with an irritated sigh. “Sorry, she’s just excited to see you.”
