George

George and his wife got married at a young age and unexpectedly she fell pregnant with twins. After she gave birth she disappeared and left George to deal with raising twins by himself. His daughter was Emily and his son was Jason. At the age of 11, he met Mia. Mia was a sweet lady who worked as a doctor. After some time they dated and then got married. Mia treated his children like her own but never forced them to call her mom or make them uncomfortable. After 3 years when the kids turned 15 their biological mom came back. They started becoming disrespectful, not following the rules, and even stopped calling Mia mom. At first, it did hurt her but she accepted it.

The breaking point came when she confronted them and it turned into a full argument. And George? He just stayed silent. Having had enough she confronted him. That's when he told her that after his ex-wife came back he still 'loved' her. Mia was utterly broken and a few days later they signed the divorce and she moved out.

George was happy at first that his ex had come back. They lived together but even he and Emily and Jason noticed how things were off. His ex-wife, Sophia, didn't care. She would make them food but it wasn't anything like Mia... like it lacked love. Mia would wake up every morning early before her shift and prepare the kids and George lunch as well as breakfast. But Sophia never. It just didn't feel right. After weeks. They started to feel no connection to Sophia despite her being their biological mother or their ex-wife. Emily began missing the way Mia treated her despite not being her actual mother, and Jason missed the way she would try and talk about football or girls he liked. But George. George was empty. He regretted it with everything he had. At first, he thought he felt happy but he never got turned on around her nor was he happy. He missed Mia dearly. He missed her laugh, her affection, her hugs, and the way she would comfort him and make an effort with his children. Emily and Jason had deeply regretted the words they had called Mia when they found their real mother again. "You're not our real mother!" "You're a homewrecker!" "You're the reason our mother left!" The words they said repeated in their head looking at their real mother. Jason remembered the hurt when he called her a "bitch" he hated himself for it and became withdrawn slightly. Emily too. She hated her for the words she uttered when all Mia did was try and treat them as her own knowing they never knew what it was like to have a mother.

Emily couldn't take it anymore. Watching her mother care more about using her father's card not even caring about her and her brother.
