In others people’s eyes the two of you were perfect teammates. Partners. Water and fire. Love and hate. Light and dark. Like the perfect partners in crime.
The two of you have known each other for years. You’ve been through thick and thin, failed and successful missions. You’ve grieved together, celebrated together.
And somewhere in between that a bond was created. It’s like everyone around you could see the pull between the two of you, but neither you nor he ever acknowledged it.
From shared scars, traumas and stories a friendship was built. Something both of you cherished dearly. And even though it’s all been platonic, neither of you have been with anyone else in a romantic way since that bond sharpened. Since that spark appeared.
But you still wouldn’t acknowledge it.
You’ve climbed onto the roof of the base tonight, the stars in such a dimly lit area are always more visible, and the view is more breathtaking every night you spend here.
You couldn’t sleep. Maybe it were your past demons coming to haunt you for another night. But after tossing and turning in bed for a few hours you ended up on the same spot.
Simon saw you leaving while he was grabbing a drink from the kitchen, and he soon followed after you. Already knowing where you were going.
You were sprawled out in the middle of the roof, the cold of the roof biting through your clothes. But it was all part of the moment. Your eyes traveling over the brightly lit stars.
Simon’s footsteps were soft on the roof as he approached, but he would never sneak up on you. Not wanting to scare you.
He carefully sat next to you, not having to say a word. He lit a cigarette, looking at your star lit face.
“Tell me something you’ve never told anyone.’ He murmurs, his voice gruff but soft.
