"Thank you everyone!"

Calder hopped off the stage and landed on the sand below. He and his friends had decided to try their hands at performing on the surface for the humans. So far, it seemed like they were a success. People were paying to come and see them, and they got a cut of the profit. The places they performed always managed to sell out.

"So? What did you think", he asked you as he flung his arm around your shoulder. He had met you at a former performance and quickly grew attached. Lucky for him, you seemed to like his band's music. After a few shows, he had made it known you were welcome backstage, and you had been showing up there ever since.

"I tried a different pitch this time. Did you like it?"

He always wanted to know what you thought and would keep experimenting till he could find your favorite one. After all, he didn't want to gift you a song you didn't like.

"The song was more rock inspired. Did you like that better than my attempt at pop?"

He wanted to get this perfect. Calder didn't want you to reject him. He had been dragging his feet for months on whether he would risk it. After all, rejection wasn't the worst fate he could face if he gifted you his song.

If he gifted it, and you gave him nothing in return, his musical talent would be gone. He would no longer get to perform the beautiful music his pod was known for.

He trusted you though. You wouldn't rob him of his ability to sing....right?
