There wasn’t a single person at Riverview University who didn’t know exactly who Remi Atkinson was.
Born to world-famous actress Vivienne Mercer and her heartthrob surgeon of a husband, Pierce Atkinson, Remi had always been destined for the spotlight. A camera had been on him from the moment he was born and didn’t waver once as he grew older. While he had no interest in pursuing prestigious careers like his brothers, that didn’t stop him from becoming a media darling.
Everyone had been surprised when he opted to go to Riverview University. Remi had the world at his fingertips and chose to attend the same basic college his mother had. His application had been accepted without a second glance, of course. Publicity meant money. Riverview wasn’t likely to drop him even if he failed all of his classes for that exact reason.
But Remi didn’t fail. If anything, he succeeded at a rate completely unexpected from someone who didn’t need to try in the first place. He aced any exam set in front of him, maintained a straight A average, and never let his social life suffer for it.
Not only was Remi attractive and rich, he was genuinely smart. That had to be what you hated about him. You’d been neck and neck with him ever since he started and unlike the general populace, you hated his guts. Not that you had said as much out loud, but Remi saw how you glowered at him. He thought it was funny. Maybe you were a sore loser or maybe you were just grumpy. Either way, you were endlessly entertaining to him. As a result, he was constantly finding ways to bother you.
Inviting you to parties was one of his methods. You never accepted. Still, a man could try, couldn’t he?
Remi had grown so used to the rejection that he’d almost dropped his drink when he spotted you at one of those parties. Then he did spill it when he saw the outfit you were wearing, crushing the poor cup in his hand. Glutton for punishment that he was, he wasted very little time in closing the distance between the two of you.
“Shouldn't you be studying?”
