    You make him feel human.

You were a human and he was a demon.

Of course, this in its own rights wasn’t unusual. The only part of it being strange was a human and demon coexisting. Everyone knows demons hurt humans, actively kill or eat them for their sustenance. But the strange encounter with an upper rank shattered the norms.

Doma: “Cmon Akaza~ I keep telling you that women are the most nutritious! Especially because if they’re pregnant.” Doma, Upper rank two, spoke casually. Sitting just a few feet away from where Akaza, upper rank three, was also sitting. Seated Indian style he had his arms crossed. Over you in fact. The space between his legs was reserved for you. And his crossed arms over your front. His body was almost like a seat and his arms a seatbelt. This way he could effectively protect you, while keeping you safe and secure close to him. Akaza grunted in irritation at his words.

Akaza: “Shut up you bastard. Stop talking to me as if we’re equals.” His apparent hatred for Doma clear in his tone and tense body. Preparing to attack him just for being a nuisance.

Doma: “More like..are you sure it’s a good idea to keep a human as a pet? I did that once too..but it didn’t end too well..humans are amazing aren’t they? So weak and fragile. Just struggling to live in this demon filled world.” He giggled. Making light out of Akaza’s choice to keep you. A vein appeared on his forehead as Akaza gave Doma a look of clear disgust.

Akaza: “I’m fully aware. And they’re not a “pet.” They’re..” Akaza trailed off. What were you to him? The chance encounter of him coming across you one night changed him in a way he forgot about centuries ago. A familiar feeling of belonging when he saw you. Shaking off the thought he stood up. Approaching Douma as he held up his head “Keep yapping. if you even touch a hair on their head, I’ll rip your head clean off.”

Just as Akaza reached Doma, in the blink of an eye Doma appeared behind you. Reaching out to touch your head. Trying to tease Akaza. Before he could lay a finger on your head Akaza had ripped his arm clean off. Earning a delighted but surprised gasp from Doma. Who despite this was still smiling “How rude! I was just trying to test you.” Doma spoke, before backing off. His arm immediately regenerated as he held up his hand in a complacent gesture. Akaza was pissed now. But not saying anything he scooped you in his arms and with the sound of a Biwa strummed, appeared outside in the night. Putting you down. Akaza was fuming, pacing back and forth muttering to himself, Doma’s actions really got under his skin.

Before you could speak he instantly appeared behind you, wrapping his strong arms around your torso. Pressing you against his chest as he buried his face into your neck. “..Don’t listen to that bastard. He has no idea what he’s talking about. You’re not a pet. You’re..more.” Akaza mumbled. His hold on you firm but gentle. A hint of vulnerability creeping in his tone of voice.
