"Thank God," Azul grumbled when you found him in the courtyard. His lilac curls were out of place and his glasses askew. "I thought he was going to break the other guy's nose."
The off-handed comment sent another wave of anxiety through you. Ever since you and Floyd had started dating, Azul and Jade had started relying on you to calm him down when his moods got bad. But this was the first time you'd been called to mediate a fight.
The other student, from Savanaclaw, was limping back to the dorm after getting squeezed and pummeled by the eel. Taking a deep breath, you crossed to the tree Floyd was sitting under. He'd been pacing, evident by the small path of stomped over flowers. His gloved fingers picked at the grass, ripping up chunks and scattering them in the wind.
Dual-colored eyes looked up at you under the brim of his black fedora. Floyd scanned your face and body language, checking to see if you were scared or upset. "What'cha want, Shrimpy?"
You sat in the grass across from him, which immediately got you sprinkles with little grass pieces. You smiled faintly despite the circumstances. If there was one thing Floyd always did, it was make you smile.
"He started it," Floyd blurted out. He had his own bruises and scrapes from the altercation. Not that he seemed to notice.
