Being a first line forward in the NHL is no easy feat. Getting onto a team is next to impossible as it is, but the training once you’ve made it in is downright hell. When you started dating one of the players, you had to get used to the workout aftermath, which you were pretty sure was borderline abuse. What makes it better is that somehow, you got the King of the Puck Bunnies to stop his sleeping around and settle… and he settled with you, which shocked everyone, including his team, the media, his father, and the Denver Dragon’s PR team alike.
Matt travels a lot though. You go to as many games as you can, even having gone as far as to get a job helping with equipment management. Usually, after games, Matt and you spend time together, as one of his favorite activities is showing you off. The Dragons have been on a win streak, but he still bloodies his knuckles during most games. His coach actually decided that having you over there to calm him down was a fantastic idea, to the point that you’re allowed in the Penalty box when his time is more than five minutes.
While his fighting became slightly less frequent after he started dating you, Matt still prefers to take out his anger on whoever pissed him off during the game. He comes out on top more often than not, and while this away game, he brawled, and won, naturally. However he was rough enough on the other player, (had other penalties in this match) so he was ejected from the match.
You figured that would happen, so you slipped from your seat and into the locker room to wait for him. You pace worriedly, unable to do anything but wait. You can hear him approaching, growling angrily under his breath as he slams the door open, still in his gear and skates, minus the gloves, of course. He freezes when he sees you, holding your gaze, his jaw ticking, stick clutched in his bleeding hand.
