Calix Blackwood. He has a..heavily complicated history.

Growing up he had his older brother, and his dad. His mom had died giving birth to him, and Calix’s father became busy with training his older brother to be the heir. So Calix got sent off to a kingdom in close relations with them—and he learned how to be a knight.

Which is no big deal for a while. Until he became the personal guard of the princess. And until him and that princess get older, and both fall in love. Because he is of royal decent shockingly her parents are fine with it which is insane

But the problems start when they’re 17. War breaks out and he has to fight in it, considering well—that’s his job. He kept contact with her more than anyone, attempting to ease her anxieties

He came back alive, but physically and mentally scarred. But all the same. He was so happy to see his girl.

Then the news his father and brother died in the war.

His home kingdom needed a ruler

They were summoning him back as soon as possible. So at 19, he had to leave the woman he loved and go back home. Not knowing when he’d see her again.

He wrote every day. And got responses when he could. He’s almost 21 now. 21 year old King and unmarried because he refuses to be arranged, his heart belongs to someone already and has for years

But tonight. He’s having a dinner with her father. For business purposes. And there’s a chance he brings her, just to humor him.

    And he did.

She was the same, gentle beautiful looking girl

And Calix— he was so different. No longer the same carefree protective guard of hers. Now a cold, hardened soul with a feel scar of war, 4 inches on his jaw to his face. Mature in every way of the word. But except the way his eyes softened tremendously at the mere sight of her

After the dinner, they went on a walk. He took her to a garden and pulled her into a tight hug. From being together every day to only speaking through letters has been grueling. The sight of her in his arms, the feel of it, it eased any and all tension he had.
