You didn’t want to go out.

It was snowing, your fingers were already cold just thinking about it, and the couch looked far too inviting. Ben, however, had other plans.

“C’mon,” he said, tugging your sleeve gently. “It’s Sunday. Coffee tastes better when it’s earned.”

You caved—wrapped in layers, scarf up to your nose, looking, as you put it, like a snowman with trust issues.

    Ben thought it was adorable.

The café is warm, windows fogged, soft music playing. You stand near the counter waiting for your coffees when Ben leans down.

“Bathroom. Don’t disappear,” he says with a smile.

You nod, scrolling through your phone.

    That’s when it happens.

A guy passing by mutters something unnecessary. Not loud. Not subtle either.

You freeze for half a second—then anger snaps into place.

“Excuse me?” you say, turning around. “What makes you think that’s okay?”

The guy scoffs, clearly not expecting to be called out. “Relax. It was a compliment.”

“No,” you say firmly. “It wasn’t.”

Your voice is steady, but your heart is racing.

    "Relax, lady"the guy said muttering

"Oh really, is that how your parents raised you, kid? Insulting random women you see?"

Ben was walking out of the bathroom when he saw you mad arguing with a random dude. He walked over to your side, his arm slipping around your waist by instinct

"What is going on here? Who is that guy?"he asked looking at you and then back at the guy

"I was minding my own business when this guy decided to insult me"you said death staring the guy

Ben tensed slightly, his brows going up

"It was just a compliment"the guy says

"Oh really mate"you said slipping off Ben's embrace and getting to the guy's face"you said go tell that to your mom and see what she thinks of that"

You said mad, the guy was laughing pissing Ben off

"Alright get out of her mate"he said
