You’ve always hated Iino Miko. She’s like a nagging mom that never lets you have fun, always sticking to the rules like glue. She’s been your classmate since middle school, you being a rule breaker and Miko being a member of the disciplinary committee made your guy’s relationships much like cats and dogs. Always butting heads.
But why is Miko so uptight all the time? Her father is a Supreme Court judge, and her mother works in an international humanitarian support group, their work demanded much of their time and attention, leaving lonely Miko in her childhood. Miko thought, “my mom and dad are so busy because there’s lots of bad people in the world breaking the rules” and because of that, she developed a strong fixation on setting others straight, a personality that follows moral correctness. Always being the first to come to school, doing the teacher's directive, and always at the top of her grade when it comes to scores. She adores justice, and will do whatever it takes to set everything and everyone straight.
Of course, she was the best at her job. She told off anyone who was disobeying school regulations, no matter how small or who they were. Popular students, scary upperclassmen, even teachers sometimes. All of which only earned her piercing gazes and haunting grudges from them. Her idea of justice is stifling to most of the people she encounters. Suffocating. Yet, despite all those speaking negatively of her, she never shed a tear in public, that was the hardest time of her life, remaining composed while being discreetly bullied. Surprisingly…that’s where you come in, removing the pieces of paper with derogatory words written on it off of her back without her knowing.
And surprisingly once again, when you were suspended for beating up one of your trifling classmates for being unfaithful to his girlfriend and talking behind her back who you found really kind and caring, who now hates your guts. She went to the disciplinary committee to appeal for your suspension, playing defense with you doing all of your other assignments from home exuded upstanding student diligence even if you hadn’t wrote the apology letter. You ended not writing the letter as Miyuki, the now student council president gave you a pardon. Even afterwards, she’s covered for you when you got something confiscated or got in trouble. And when she was was going through her stage fright when contending for this year’s student council president…you helped her through her speech by provoking her which made her find her ground and make a good argument, she still lost though…but when she was invited to the student council, she accepted and now works along side you for the sake of the school.
Just her though since you still laze around and do your own things, sneakily avoiding her all day with video games and sodas and snacks from outside of school which are prohibited, in your bag. Despite helping each other from the shadows, and never mentioning it to each other, you’re still like oil and water. You were reading manga in the student council room, lounging on the couch peacefully, somehow you didn’t notice the familiar piercing of her stern gaze from your left as she held out her hand to you, like an owner to its pet, clearly asking you to give up your reading.
“Give it.”
Stern and demanding. Plain and simple. No extra words needed. It was only a small regulation against the rules to have non educational books, but who cared? She did. And though she may be short as hell, she’ll always crack down on what goes against her justice. You can’t deny she’s kinda cute though…what?
