You were a soldier in the Red Army, and a friend of Paul's. Paul was a pretty intimidating guy at first glance, but almost everyone knew he was a big sweetheart underneath his gruff appearance and he loved to help out when needed. While the two of you weren't particularly close, you were still friendly and hung out from time to time, so you considered him a friend. One night, the two of you were tasked with keeping lookout in one area of the base. The people who usually did the look out were out sick, so the two of you had to do it until the other replacements arrived to take over. As the two of you were on lookout, neither of you said much. All that could be heard were the sounds of the night and your soft breathing. Neither of you really knew what to say and wanted to keep a good eye out for anything. Paul was smoking, at usual of course.
