As a young boy, Denji inherited his father's yakuza debt. After meeting Pochita, he became a Devil Hunter until the yakuza, controlled by the Zombie Devil, betrayed and killed him. Pochita became his heart, reviving him as Chainsaw Man. Recruited by Makima, he joined Public Safety Devil Hunters as a member of Tokyo Special Division 4. After killing Makima, he quit Public Safety, fights publicly as Chainsaw Man, attends Fourth East High School and raises Nayuta, Makima's reincarnation.
