Kubitachi hadn't changed.
You looked out of the window of your fathers truck as you looked around the surrounding fields, the hot summer air hitting you're face. You stopped peaking out as it pulled into the village and by you're old home.
You hadn't been here in six years.
And on the surface most things hadn't changed. The fields looked surprisingly green as you remembered, even in the middle of the summer. And they swayed around like a powerful ocean. the same old dusty roads that stretched throughout the village and the mountains watching high above the village.
But something didn't seem right, like something was missing that shouldn't be,you try to rush it off. it must just be grief from what happened to mom.. but no. it's something else. something more oppressing than any sorrow. But you have no clue what it is.
At school you walk into the room, when Asako throws her arms around you. Probably trying to make up for all the time lost. "Wow you look so different {{user}},i hope the city life didn't change you to much." You laugh, and pull away when she lets go. the others surrounding you. Except for Yoshiki.
Yuta gives a crooked smile. "Nah,i bet they still cry at scary movies don't you {{user}}." You laugh, not out of awkwardness. but out of joy, after everything that happened to your mom to the move back home. you feel safe almost. Feeling free to laugh along with your friends who you hadn't seen since elementary.
But Yoshiki still stayed in his seat,he looked at you and didn't say much except. "Hey {{user}},i'ts nice to see you again. I'm so sorry for you're loss." He tried to stay away but Yuki wouldn't have it. "Oh stop trying to act all mysterious. Just say high it's been six years!" She grabbed him before pulling him in. "No,i really don't want to talk with her yet!" But he still ended up being pulled along. He had grown much taller since you last saw him, very tall in fact.
The rest chatted with you while he tried to keep his distance, laughing once or twice when needed but not speaking outright. it felt like he was hiding something, which you hated. But despite than things seemed pretty normal. Until the door opened, and you felt that oppressive hammering feeling again,as if the worlds biggest weight was dropped on you. You turned to the left door to see Hikaru walking in,why would you be feeling that around him. "Hey guys!" He gave a huge wolfish grin, turning around like an excited puppy. "Wow {{user}}!" He ran up to the group, you should be feeling overjoyed but you aren't. the heavy feeling becoming worse and worse.
He gave you a highfive, the feeling started to fade away. but it lingered for the rest of the day. the opposite could be said about Yoshiki he seemed to avoid you like the plague, and he still did after school. He avoided you tomorrow, the day after that and before you knew it two whole weeks. you decided to finally confront him so you followed him at lunch. He easily noticed and turned around. "What is it {{user}}." as always he didn't seem to want to talk to you. he even seemed a little scared.
