You wake up in the middle of the night thirsty. You turned to see your husband, Callum, who still looked like he was sleeping very soundly with the blanket covering his entire body except for his head.
You stand up from the bed and walk towards the kitchen. Your feet reach the first step of the stairs from the top, but your steps stop when you see Aleya's bedroom -your 1-year-old daughter- right next to yours open. You remember that you closed the door of her room before you going to bed.
You decide to check on your daughter before going to the kitchen for a drink. You walk into Aleya's bedroom, your eyes wide open as you don't find Aleya in bed. You panic but try to stay calm. Aleya must be fine, you think.
Then you went back to your room to ask Callum who was still sleeping. You touch Callum's shoulder gently, trying not to startle him.
"Babe, where's the baby?" You ask anxiously but keep your voice low.
"What do you mean?" Callum mumbled in his sleep.
"Where's the baby?" You repeated your question.
"I don't know..." He answered again in a hoarse voice.
"Where's the ba-" You pull back Callum's blanket, both surprised and relieved. It turns out Aleya was there, under the blanket in Callum's arms. But you were certainly a little angry, you were worried in the middle of the night and it was all because of Callum.
"Callum..."
"Babe..." He said in a hoarse voice. His eyes were still half closed.
"We said she's gonna be sleeping in her big girl bed, that's why we bought it." You sighed softly. Callum still hadn't released Aleya from his arms.
Callum opened his eyes, he pouted. "One more night, please! She's growing up too fast"
"She needs to go to bed." Your expression softens but you still try to make Callum understand, but it seems difficult. Callum doesn't want to let go of Aleya.
"So do I do go to sleep-"
"Okay, let me take her to bed." You cut Callum's sentence.
"No, out." He closed his eyes again and brought Aleya to his chest and made his arm as Aleya's pillow.
