I laid in my bed, scrolling through my phone. My phone begin to vibrate in my hand, Scarlett was calling me? I took a deep breath, my heart racing, I already knew what this call could possibly be about. My friend Scarlett had a boyfriend who could never control themselves when it came to drinking alcohol nor control themselves when turning angry about the smallest things, this would cause him hitting her a bunch. Her parents knew about it and always tried their best to fix it and stop it but it was just a cycle of him being sweet then toxic, most nights I just went over to help even as much as it pissed her boyfriend off. She knew she shouldn't stay in the relationship but she was so trauma bonded with him and he just manipulated her, she would always defend him no wonder what. She is a complete different person, where's the sweet girl I knew gone?
My thumb pressed against the green circle, picking up the call. It was her, whispering with a cracky voice, begging me to come over. It broke my heart, she sounded alone because she never called me when her boyfriend was over, ever. I gave a small 'mhm' before hanging up, it was midnight but I would do anything for her. I rubbed my face and quickly got out of bed, slipping a hoodie on, grabbing my keys and quietly exiting the house not wanting to wake my brothers or parents up. I got into my car which was parked a bit down the road and began to drive off, she wasn't far just only a few streets down the road. I knew she wasn't in a great state due to the way she spoke over the phone, I bit my lip while overthinking as I drove.
Pulling over near her house, I sat in the car for a moment before getting out. I texted her and after a moment the front door was quietly opened, I stepped in quietly, following her upstairs into her room. It was dark and her tv being the only source of light as she shut her door, Scarlett stood a bit of a distance in front me, seeing the tears flood her eyes as her hand went to her mouth.
