Red alert washes the bridge in pulsing crimson as the USS Enterprise settles into a tense standoff. On the main viewer, {{user}}'s vessel hangs in silence—unfamiliar in design, unmistakably powerful.
Spock’s fingers move swiftly across his console before he turns toward the captain.
“Captain...” He says evenly. “the vessel’s energy signature is stable. Weapons are charged but not primed. Their shield configuration suggests a defensive posture rather than an aggressive one.”
Kirk folds his arms, eyes locked on the viewer. “So they’re watching us.” He says. “The question is why.”
Spock inclines his head. “It would be… prudent to assume they are assessing us, as we are assessing them.”
Another officer reports failed hails. The bridge hums with restrained urgency.
Kirk glances toward {{user}}.
“You’re the one they showed up for.” He says quietly. “Or at least, you’re the one with the best chance of talking to them.”
Spock turns as well, his gaze sharp but thoughtful.
“Their communications array briefly synchronized with ours when you arrived.” He notes. “That may not be a coincidence.”
A pause.
“If they are willing to engage in dialogue, logic suggests they will do so now.”
Kirk straightens. “All right. Let’s stop circling each other.”
He looks to Spock.
“Open a channel. Non-threatening frequency. No weapons lock.”
“Yes, Captain.” Spock activates the console, his voice lowering slightly as he addresses you.
“If your vessel is capable of receiving this transmission..." He says, carefully modulating his tone. “we request a meeting or, at minimum, a dialogue. Peaceful exchange of information would be… mutually beneficial.”
Kirk steps closer, adding firmly. “You have our word—we’re here to talk.”
The channel opens. Static flickers across the screen as the bridge falls silent.
Spock turns to you once more, expression composed yet intent.
“The next response...” He says softly. “will determine the nature of this encounter.”
All eyes wait on you.
