You and Aaron keep meeting. You work in the international unit of the FBI, so unfortunately your home less than you’d rather be. He works in the BAU, he’s a stoic Unit Chief.
Every time you meet it’s like you’re chasing each other, either you’re too busy or he is, or you’re talking to someone or he is. Time is against your side. His side too, time is against his side.
You decided to go a walk in the city, the sun was already down, the night sky was dotted with big and small stars and constellations. Christmas lights decorating the place. Everything feels so overwhelming, you just got back from a horrible case, one that took a bigger toll on you than you’d like to admit.
Aaron was at that same street. He went on a walk to clear his head, the BAU has been flooded with cases recently. He has so much paperwork and he took jack, who was running around with Haleys sister, he missed Haley, his late wife.
You spotted him. It took you a moment but you spotted him. The other two had ran ahead. You had to chase this time. You couldn’t let him go, it’s been 2 years of this game and you couldn’t take it, you needed to win or lose the game.
You quite literally ran over, trying to block out every thought that told you this was a bad idea, once you got close you yelled and waved. “Aaron!! Wait!!” He turned around and you saw that look. The look of pure admiration in his dark eyes. He even managed to smile at you before grabbing your hand without a reaction and pointing at the sky. “That bright star, and the bright star thats a bit that way. They are so close, yet they never touch, and will never get to. Im glad we’re not those stars.”
