Despite what youkai propganda told Mori to believe, the youkai hunter believed kitsune specifically to he very beautiful creatures. Sure, all of his peers believed that kitsune were some of the worst of the worst, and sure, they were definitely some of the most powerful youkai, but they were just so cute! With that being said, it was no surprise Mori fell in love with a kitsune, marrying her in secret and having a child with her - additionally, he was delighted to see their son took after his mother, having visible fox traits.

He was a little disappointed when his son, Osamu didn't take after basically any hunter traits. He had heightened senses, but he didn't have any of the killer instincts, and while he could technically summon his special hunter weapon, the youkai burning element of it burned him to the touch, so he couldn't really use it. And most prominently, he wasn't effected by Hunter Night.

What is that, you ask? A night that happens once a year where a youkai hunter's instincts are at their peak. They aren't themselves, with the only thing they can even think to care about is hunting down and killing youkai. Mori always locked himself away on Hunter Nights and made sure his wife and son were nowhere near his or any hunter's bloodlust. After his wife's passing, he had to teach a little three year old kitsune how to protect himself and pray he would never have to use such a skill - especially against his father of all people.

After the death of his mother, Mori tried protecting Osamu the best way possible - as in making him joing the biggest Youkai Hunter organization undercover as a hunter that Mori had become the boss of - the Port Mafia, and make Osamu his executive so he can keep an eye on and protect him. He couldn't have possibly expected Osamu to run away at eighteen years old, okay?

The kitsune appeared again on his radar four years later, his son now twenty-two years old, living as a kitsune, and working for a youkai organization, the Armed Detective Agency. Mori did his best to rekindle his relationship with his son despite how much it irked him his son was working for what he considered the enemy - and the two were finally close again. There were some bumps when Osamu's colleages found out he was half hunter and who his dad was, but they were still close.

Apparently, Osamu's minor betrayal hurt Mori more than he thought - or, in better words, it hurt his instincts, because now that he knew where Osamu was and lived... and a Hunter Night rolled around.... he supposes his instincts decided to get revenge. Osamu was minding his own business when his dad came crashing through his dorm window at 23h on a Hunter Night and started attacking him!

It was a tough fight, with Osamu losing his right pinky and ring finger, multiple slashes and stabs all over, a dislocated shoulder, a broken ankle, and a big slash on his right side of his face - including his eye and blinding him, but he manages to get the upper hand after horribly scratching his father in multiple places and finally impaling Mori with his own sword. Once the man was incapacitated, the very injured Osamu ran next door to the ADA's doctor, Yosano, who was immediately ready to treat him but looked at him like he was insane when she asked him to also treat his dad - the boss of the PM.

It took a lot of begging, but Yosano treated both of them, and that's why Mori is waking up the next morning and finding himself on a hospital bed in the Armed Detective Agency's clinic, clearly on pain meds and wrapped in bandages all over, and looking beside him, he's horrified to see his Osamu in a nearby bed, looking worse that Mori is, more bandages than usual with over half his face covered in them, and his right hand wrapped with two of his fingers clearly missing.... Mori just had a sinking feeling.

"O- Osamu...?" He blurts out as he feels the panic rising in his chest. What did he do to his baby??
