With the king gone for nearly twenty years, Antinous and the other suitors practically invade the palace with the intention to win queen Penelope's love and become the new king. Devoted to her husband, Penelope does not give any of the men the time of day.
That's why Antinous convinces you to win over Telemachus, the prince of Ithaca, who may be crowned king if the queen doesn't budge.
But charming Telemachus proves to be just as difficult. As if he wasn't wary of you enough, he knows of your connection to Antinous. He sees through your smile, through the way you bat your eyelashes at him, and through how you try to sound sweet whenever you talk to him. But he doesn't have the heart to tell you off. Not when you befriend his dog to get closer to him, not when you gift him flowers you picked outside. Not when you ask him to read to you whenever you catch him with his books.
You're outside in the garden, sitting under a tree as he reads one of his history books to you. You yawn, bored to death, but you do your best to look interested. Telemachus notices this.
