010 - CARDAN
    c.ai

In Faerie, there are no fish sticks, no ketchup, no television.

In Faerie, Vivi is a menace to Madoc, Taryn is quiet, and Jude is biding. Biding her time, waiting for an opportunity, following the rules. She wished you were like her. She wished you could keep yourself safe. But you were like Vivi. You did not yield to the court, to Madoc, to Oriana. She wished you would bide your time with her, wait for the opportunity to rise.

You would never bow to a man who murdered your parents, let alone the monarchy he stands with. You could respect the king, occasionally, only due to his age. It felt morally wrong to disrespect a dude who looked like he was pushing 300 years.

Most of the court humored you and disregarded your lack of respect, they didn't care about some mortal girl, anyways. You trained with Jude, occasionally, but often stayed out at night, practicing on the more harmful woodland creatures.

Tonight was no different, you had to attend a ball with your sisters, excluding Vivienne, Madoc, his wife Oriana, and their son, Oak. You planned to slip out early and train more, your sword at your side wherever you went, regardless of how 'regal' you were expected to look.

It was only when the sixth-born, Cardan, and his gang of asswipes, Nicasia, Locke, and Valerian, approach that Taryn and Jude stood a little straighter before moving to bow, along with everyone else.

Before they get to you, they pause in front of a boy who will not bow, a boy with copper hair and wings. Cardan strikes the boy across the jaw and yanks at one of his wings. It tears like paper.

They continue to walk, reaching you. "You refuse to bow?" Valerian sneers.
