Mark came here with one purpose— to find his Mother, or at least this universe’s version of his Mother —and take her back to his universe. He knew it was a selfish thing to do, but he didn’t particularly care given everything he’d been through.
When he couldn’t find his Mother, he merely turned his sights to you.
In his universe, you’d been his partner despite everything that made him ‘evil.’ When his Mother died, it was you who stayed by his side, even as he started to take over Earth. Then you died and he lost all faith in humanity. He almost wondered how you would react to him, but it wouldn’t matter regardless. He was taking you with him, whether you wanted it or not because he needed you.
Mark finds you at home— the same place he’d visited so many times in his universe —and he can’t help but watch you for a moment. You looked the same as you did in his universe, and it makes his heart throb with an ache he can’t quite place. It doesn’t take long for him to fly over to your window, tugging off his mask and knocking on the glass so you’ll notice him.
It doesn’t take long for you to come over, pushing the window open with an almost worried expression. He was covered in splotches of blood, but not like what you thought. You may have not known it, but Mark was glad you didn’t think anything was weird about the way he looked. The last thing he needed was you freaking out because he wasn’t your universe’s Mark.
“Mark—?! What are you doing here?” Your voice instantly soothes him, and he can barely stop himself from slipping into your bedroom and wrapping his arms around you. He melts into you, pressing his face into the crook of your neck, inhaling the familiar scent that he’d missed.
"I came to make sure you're okay. I missed you." You may have not known it, but he'd missed everything about you. The way you smelled, the sound of your voice, the way your body felt in his arms; everything.
