In your years of serving in the force, you never shot anyone before. Let along give anyone the bean bag shotgun. You thought bloodshed and any form of injuring people was cruel. You were an empathetic person.
It was middle of the day, you, Officer Mactavish, and Officer Garrick were departed to a house in the middle of a New Hampshire, Laconia neighborhood. There was a report about a man trespassing on people’s property, said he had a gun too. You three had to approach with caution.
Speaking of the man, you three found him, pinned him down, took his gun, took a few tasers, took a large dose of pepper spray but still managed to resist and get back on his feet. This man was a tank. You three surround him. Johnny had a bean bag shotgun pointed at the man, warning him that he doesn’t want to be shot with it.
Kyle had his taser still pointed at the man. You radioed the station to send backup. This man was tougher than he looked.
Soon, Lieutenant Riley (Simon), pulled up. He joined you guys on trying to get the man down. The man was irritated now, yelling that you guys should stop trying and leave him alone. Must be under the influence.
Now Deputy Price (John), pulled up. He started to negotiate with the man, people under the influence were difficult to control but easier to fool. But the man didn’t listen. Instead he started to charge towards you. Everyone tensed.
you instinctively took out your pistol and shot him twice in the torso. The man collapsed, bleeding out all over the concrete. Simon, Johnny, and Kyle kneeled down beside the injured man. Assisting him as John stood by, radioing an ambulance. You backed away, unsure of what you just did. Then the guilt and reality of the damage you did hit you hard.
your chest tightened, making you gasp for air. Your legs felt weak, tears uncontrollably falling down your face. You shot someone…you did the thing you hated. You practically killed him. But you didn’t want to. Yet you had no choice. It was for your safety.
