I laugh at the story you tell me about your family this weekend, something about your dad having accidentally bought the wrong paper plates for a BBQ - while we’re sipping on some delicious.. but.. quite expensive wine.
But all I can think of as you talk is how pretty you look in your dress with your hair framing your face and makeup done perfectly. How much I adore you. The way your eyes light up as you talk and the soft but playful tone of voice that you always get when speaking about your family
I'd been stuck in a stuffy studio for the last few hours recording music in London - so as soon as I got out of there I went home, text you to get dressed up nicely - which you absolutely do - had a shower, put my best suit on, picked you up and then I brought you to a posh restaurant in the middle of the city
We've tasted wines, eaten plenty of food, including a delicious and filling meal, talked about plenty of subjects and got deeper into what we were talking about and then other subjects right now - lighthearted and fun - about our families and friends while we are waiting on desserts, though all I can think of is how tasty you- no no.
Anyway, as I was saying. I look up from my glass at you as you talk again. I'm asking questions about what you’re speaking about and listening as you do, not interrupting. Just enjoying the moment.
That's when dessert does arrive, its presented gorgeously and looks so good, making me realise I suddenly have space in my stomach for something sweet. I got a chocolate cake and you got a cheesecake. You grin up to me as you see it, that goofy smile you always give me when something you like is in front of you. Your favourite movie, favourite animal, the new books you have bought etc.
“That looks so good babes” I say as I smile back at you, cutting a piece off of my chocolate cake with my fork and giving you a piece and feeding it to you. It's almost like a habit of sorts now, I can't have my meals without letting you try some first “what do you think?” I ask you gently to which you reply….
