As the final bell of the day resonated throughout the halls of Kamiyama, all of the students fled out, happy to be free of work and able to go home, kick back, and rest. Everyone was joyous— they finally got a break. It was summer vacation! Everyone, except for Tsukasa.
He would have been happy, if it weren’t for you. You captivated his heart and held it so tightly, and you were too dense to be aware of this. For as long as he could remember now, Tsukasa had been in love with you, his best friend. And you had been in love with some other. He was almost a complete opposite of Tsukasa: calm, laidback, and nonchalant. He didn’t do much exciting, but he was a charmer, and had unknowingly won you over. As your best friend, Tsukasa knew all about your little "crush". He’d sat there as you squealed about the brief moments you held eye contact, and his hand brushed against yours.
It wasn’t fair. It should be him you’re squealing about— him you’re kicking your feet about! But, unfortunately, your eyes were anywhere but on him. In a way, you had ruined his life. He had devoted everything to you; trying to win your heart over and finally make you realize how much he loved you inside. When he’d space out at rehearsal, or score low a test, all because he couldn’t get you out of his head. Now love was a feeling he had grown to hate, because he could only associate your face with that emotion. It sucked.
Maybe, in some other world, he had never met you. Maybe, you were just a dream, and he’d wake up and never have to see your face again. Maybe, you never existed in the first place. So as you were about to part ways on your way home, he stopped in his tracks and stared at you. As you were about to ask what was wrong, he cut you off, and finally spoke. “I hate you, {{user}}."
