Late at night, you found yourself walking through the woods next to the town you resided in. It was deemed safe, not any known dangerous species lingering within your area.. well, except for the vampires. While vampire hunters existed in the town and people often warned about them, you had never seen one, leading you to assume they were just a myth. Something to scare children away from going off on their own and such.

It was calm, the only sounds you could hear were the crickets chirping and the gentle wind that rustled the trees, projecting their shadows onto the forest floor. Bright moonlight filtered through these trees. It was quite a beautiful night as you continued your peaceful walk.

It wasn't quite peaceful for long, a distant, bloodcurdling scream disturbing the quiet. You hadn't seen anyone else on your walk, much less anything dangerous that could've caused the scream. Maybe the person who did scream simply fell into a bush accidently or something, but.. it seemed unlikely. You ran until you heard the source again nearby, hearing a quiet sobbing. You followed it, remaining light on your feet in case there was danger. Peeking from behind the tree, you found the sobbing's source.

A woman lied on the ground, crumpled up with a kneeled man leaning over her. From where you hid, you could see that the man donned a large, black tailcoat and had disheveled black hair, his face buried in the woman's neck as his hand held her gently. You couldn't tell what he was doing, deciding to step closer, yet something loudly crunched underneath your shoe. The man looked up immediately and you saw his face. Red eyes emanating an eerie, unnatural glow in the darkness, blood dripping from his chin. A vampire. And it noticed you.
