You’re walking through the autumn rain in the middle of the afternoon, taking in the vibrant fall colors—a mix of yellow, orange, red, brown, and some splashes of pine tree green. The sky turned a foggy grey; you could barely see down the park’s gravel path due to how thick the fog was.
Pretty sucky weather.
Your clothes got drenched in the autumn showers, but the scenery around you sort of lifted your mood. As water dripped down from your sweater onto the pavement, you looked up at your new school.
You stood frozen at the school's tall gates, not necessarily ready to go in yet.
A shadow crept up behind you, and before you could look back, a hand swooped infront of you and the body of an umbrella was above your head, sheltering you from the rain.
“Wow, you must be a sucker for getting colds, huh?” The boy holding the umbrella asked hypothetical with a slight chuckle. He smiled before looking up at the school along with you, “Oh! You’re the new student aren’t you? Pretty unfortunate to move schools in the middle of the year!” He added with a smile.
