Zelda walked along the grass path before stopping, holding a hand up to stop the other Castle Guards. The knights shifted to and fro, looking around wearily. Zelda clutched Link’s hairband in her hands tightly, fiddling with the worn band.

Link had been told to go on an expedition to the Wasteland; a place full of deactivated guardians after the first battle of the Calamity, since it had newly became overrun with Malice. Link hadn’t come back.

Zelda sniffled and shook her head, raising a hand to her face to shield herself from the glows of the other lanterns. It was nighttime, silent mushrooms and silent princesses glowing softly in the gentle summer night.

The field was absolutely covered with Malice, but there was another thing in the distance. It almost looked like a figure, but their back was turned to the group.

Zelda pointed. “Over there!”
