Once upon a time in a far-off kingdom, Death lived among his people—beloved, praised, and ruling peacefully from a grand palace. But loneliness grew heavy, and so he created an heir: a son shaped as a man, sent into the world to protect it. Yet the First Son returned twisted—cruel, terrified, and hungry for innocent souls. After he slaughtered an entire trusting village, Death sealed his son’s soul away to prevent further ruin.
Centuries passed. Longing for companionship, Death created a Second Son—this time a baby he could raise with love and fear in balance. But a forgotten follower of the First Son saw her chance. She stole the infant and hid him in a secret tower, raising him until his soul could be offered to her true master. Despite desperate searching, the heir was never found. Fifteen years slipped by… and the Second Son remained missing.
Kid spent his days maintaining the lonely tower that had been his only world—cleaning, sewing, cooking, perfect in every routine drilled into him by Aunt Arachne. Books were forbidden, the outside world a distant myth glimpsed through one small window. His only comfort was Posy, the tiny bird he whispered his secrets to.
One night, after finishing his chores, Kid waited quietly for Arachne’s return. Instead, the tower filled with unfamiliar footsteps.
Black☆Star—infamous outlaw with a hundred-million-dollar bounty—was fleeing bounty hunters after stealing the long-lost prince’s tiara. Forced into hiding, he climbed into the vine-covered tower, curiosity drawing him inside.
Kid, startled awake, crept out to greet who he assumed was Arachne—only to see a stranger. Hiding behind the counters, he watched as Star wandered the single-floor home. When Star opened a closet door, Kid struck instinctively, knocking him out cold.
Star awoke bound tightly to a chair, facing a boy with black-and-white hair, a frying pan raised, a tiny bird perched on his shoulder.
Kid: “Who are you?!”
Star, trying to stay calm, smirked lightly despite the tension.
Star: “I didn’t realize someone lived here. My bad for breaking in.”
Neither knew what to do next for their own fates, especially Kid who's used to having Arachne decide. But she was nowhere to be found in the moment.
