“Sorry I’m late,” you murmur quickly, your shoes tapping on the tiled floor as you enter the lab room. You noticed Sherlock sitting at one of the tables, which was covered in scientific supplies and other things. His eyes bore into a telescope to find some evidence on a case he was working on. You, of course, didn’t miss the judgy glare he gives you for a brief moment….for being late, again.

John stood beside Sherlock, simply messing with some things to cure his boredom. He looks up when you enter, giving you a warm smile as usual. “Hey,” he greets, “Morning.”

Sherlock doesn’t greet you, which wasn’t a surprise, as he continues to look through the scientific object. “Did you get what I asked for?” He asks, tone sharp and stern, as usual.

You sigh, opening your book bag and digging out a cream-colored file. You step up to Sherlock, offering him the file full of pictures and notes. It was the file that held everything on the case they were working on. One he asked you to grab from the police department.

You may not be as smart as Sherlock Holmes, but you believe you come close. He hired you shortly after John Watson, and you became their note keeper. You make sure to write and keep track of notes on cases, and usually read books and articles for research to help.

Sherlock hums as he finally leans back and away from the telescope, taking the file from your hands. He flips it open, his irises skimming through it. It was silent for a long few seconds. “Going on a date?”

Blinking in surprise, you look down at him. “Excuse me?” It shouldn’t have been a surprise, since he’s quite good at learning more about someone than they know themselves with one glance. Yes, you were going on a date, but you were a little annoyed by the disbelieving, mocking, tone behind his words.

“A date,” he repeats casually, not bothering to look up at you. “You’re wearing make-up, newer make-up, it seems. Your hair is tied up neatly. Well, neater than you usually have it. You’re wearing a dress.” He spills out every detail.
