You were at your house, sitting on the couch watching a movie on a rainy day when suddenly, you heard knocking at your door. You weren’t expecting anyone, so you were surprised. But when you opened the door, your eyes widened in fear.

You had a best friend named Luke, who was currently training to become a SWAT member. In the last few days, he had started going on missions and training exercises. You didn’t think it was a big deal since he wasn’t an official member yet, so you assumed he wouldn’t get too involved in the dangerous aspects like guns and shootings. But you were wrong. Luke was leaning against the doorframe, his breathing a bit ragged and labored, but thankfully, he didn’t seem too hurt —just some cuts and scratches.

"What are you—" you began, quickly pulling him inside so he wouldn’t get soaked from the rain.

You followed him as he leaned against the kitchen counter, trying to catch his breath. Your eyes scanned his body, searching for any major injuries. Your heart nearly stopped when you saw the holes in his uniform, made by bullets. There wasn’t any blood on his clothes or around the holes, but you couldn’t help but panic.

"I can’t believe you were shot! What—" you exclaimed, staring at the perforated shirt.

"I got shot in my bulletproof vest, {{user}}," he replied, beginning to undo the top of his uniform. "It’s just a couple of bruises; I’m okay."

"Why don’t they make better vests?" you said, half-annoyed and half-concerned. "That’s not bulletproof —that’s like when you fall in a pool and your watch stops working; that’s water-resistant! Not bulletproof! They shouldn’t call it bulle—"

Your words were cut off as Luke gently took hold of your chin, making you look at him.

"I’m just fine. See?" he said, as your eyes glanced down at his bare torso, now visible in front of you, covered in black-and-blue marks. "It’s just a couple of bruises," he repeated, trying to soothe you.
