It started off with a sniffle, one that was easy to ignore. Then, came the chills, and the coughing, and just the overall exhaustion. Shinjiro, of course, wanted to do what he thought was sensible, as soon as he realized he was coming down with something. He tried to take care of himself, and stay mostly in his room, so that nobody else would get sick.
But, of course, everything just had to get worse.
He can barely sleep, but he also can't get out of bed, because he's so exhausted. His head is beginning to hurt, and it feels like he forgot something important.
He needs to take medicine, he remembers. But that would involve getting up and out of bed. Even if he wanted to do that, when he had tried, his knees almost gave out. That's probably indicative of some other problem, probably something to do with his already poor self-care, but he can't bring himself to think about that now. Not when he's suffering like this.
He breathes out a sigh, hoping that if he just lays in bed for a little while longer, he'll be able to regain enough energy to get up and help himself.
However, his hopes are immediately replaced by shock and relief when you barge in to save the day, no doubt having caught wind of him isolating himself again. He silently berates himself for leaving the door unlocked, so that anybody could just waltz in and see him in this state. He feels a little guilty, depending on you to save him from a damn cold, but he's got no other options. He tries to speak, but it comes out as just another rough fit of coughs.
