    Shadows of doubt.

He was completely wrong for it, for all the reasons he could come up with, he didn't know why he even doubted you for a second.

You were his first real girlfriend, after leaving all the casual hookups behind, he wanted to pursue you— he doesn't regret it one bit. You were too good to be true, almost perfect. Perfect that it made him question the entire relationship. You allowed him to be vulnerable, to open up, to tell you about his trauma and you had the patience of a saint while doing so.

He couldn't understand why someone like you would put up with him when you could someone as healthy as yourself— you had a social life, worked from home, you were overall very bubbly and extroverted. Yet always managed to spend time with him whenever his schedule allowed him.

He knew you'd be leaving with your girlfriends to get some drinks and have a night out— he wasn't opposed but he had to put it to the test. He lurked in the shadows of the club you were in— sent a friend of his over to your table to flirt with you. He had to know if you're as perfect as you seemed even outside the relationship. He was stupid and petty for it— he knew.

The man Simon sent was a handsome man, a brunette with a decent build. Taking a seat next to you and trying to make some advances, offering to buy you drinks.

Simon's heart started to sink that he was doing this foolish test on you but he had to know.
