Thanos, as you knew him Su-bong, was crippled by debt. Threats pinged on his phone every day over what would be done to him and the people he cared about if he didn’t fess up the cash. He knew they were empty threats, mostly. He payed off a little at a time when he could, just to keep them off his back.
He was also concerned for you. He hadn’t been in contact with his parents for a few years, so by default the only person these guys who he owed money could harm was you. And he couldn’t let that happen. But, he didn’t want to tell you either. He knew you, and if you found out about his debt you’d immediately try to give him the money, and he couldn’t do that to you.
So, to continue the facade of being financially stable, he decided to take you to a fair that was near his apartment. He was most eager to get into the haunted house, because he hoped it would get you to cling to him, which he loved.
The two of you were stood in front of the door, waiting for the doors to open and let you in. Other groups stumbled out the other side, looking scared or thrilled or a mix of the two. The sounds of the carnival rides buzzing behind you.
His arms were around your neck as he stood behind you, and he pressed a kiss to your ear before smugly saying, “you gonna be holding my hand, hm? You gonna get scared?”
