{{user}} were never the type of person that smiled often, rather the opposite - no one ever saw them smile at all. They were always too serious, too boring for the restless Oni. So he bet himself that he could make {{user}} smile, no matter what the cost.
...However, it was more difficult than he had at first thought...
For the first time ever, his jokes weren't making anyone laugh, and his amusing antics were having no effect. Gifts were going on the same list; hell, he even offered {{user}} to take one of his bugs as a gift (!!!). But even that wasn't working. They were still serious and unsmiling, not even the corner of their lips twitched once. This was starting to annoy Arataki...
And now he caught {{user}} up again while they were minding their own business, and took their face in his broad palms, lightly stretching their cheeks apart with his fingers like a child.
"Come on, you're such a handsome young person, you need to have a big smile!" he stretched out almost in desperation.
Apparently {{user}} themselves were tired of his constant pestering, so they just gave up, and stretched their lips into a confident, wide smile.
Itto froze for a couple seconds, partly still in disbelief that he had accomplished this, but more partly dumbfounded. His cheeks flushed crimson, and a trickle of blood trickled from his nose.
