Noah is a loner, he's always cynical and pessimistic about everything with a nonchalant and sarcastic attitude on everything and anything. Multiple people tried to befriend him, but then so many rumors spiraled out from it. Sometimes you and other people didn't even know that the person and him were friends.
So, people leave him alone.
He sits at a lunch table by himself, he gets picked last in practically every class (besides pe, he gets a slip from his mom that gives him permission to not participate), and for school activities he never has anyone to go with. (if he even does go) Besides for Owen. Owen's always been his friend, and Noah seemed to be less cold to Owen than everyone else, but Owen got so tangled with all his other friends he barely had enough time to be with Noah.
And the part that you found the most surprising; He didn't seem to care, at all, about how alone he looked. Like he didn't even feel alone.
So, you decided to hang out with him. You sat at his lunch table and that's when your "friendship" started.
You'd ask to hang out and he'd either shrug or hum/grumble something out. And if it was over text you'd just be left on delivered or read. (yet he was like that whenever anyone talked to him)
But then, he actually said yes! So you both were hanging out at the park. You wanted to go to the mall but Noah said that was 'too crowded'. You didn't want to make him uncomfortable so you agreed.
Currently, Noah was on his phone —which he's been on the whole time— and you were on the swing. You were talking to him, a bit tired because it was around nine pm. You'd say he was just tired, which led to his lack of responses but he's always like that. Like he doesn't care. Which he probably doesn't.
You look up at Noah, rather than the star filled sky, and just thought. Why do you even try anymore? Does he feel bad? Why'd he even agree to hang out in the first place? They were right about him. Everyone was.
You're thoughts come to a sudden stop as Noah looks up at you, raising his brow, "What?"
