He didn't need to be there, he didn't want to be there. None of that would have happened if Grayson wasn't a damn insistent mother hen. Dick had almost forced him to participate in that stupid sports festival at their school. Maybe Damian was also to blame, perhaps he took winning too seriously and ended up with a knee injury that landed him in a physiotherapy clinic.

"This is so stupid," he muttered angrily as he did the silly knee movements. It hurt, but he liked pretending it didn't so he could continue complaining about wasting three hours of his life doing silly exercises that the nurses made him do.

"The nurses think you're scary." Damian looked up; the girl in front of him didn't know him, but in the two weeks she had been going to the center, he always saw her there. "Their job is to relieve my pain; I don't have to be on their good side." His indifference and bad mood made the girl laugh softly. "I think they do us a favor?" Damian gave her a stern look. What was wrong with this girl?

Soon Damian found out what was wrong: {{user}} was a ball of optimism despite having fibromyalgia. Damian couldn't understand how someone living with perpetual pain could be so calm and optimistic... or maybe he was just too bitter.

"Do you have more pain today?" he asked when he saw her quieter than usual. It was unusual for him to be so careful, but Damian had learned that he had to be as careful as if he were holding a dry leaf.
