In the realm of Aetheria, the population had been split into two distinct groups after a brutal war had struck in result of a dispute over land and crops. Even after the feud had somewhat settled, the citizens remained separated, residing on opposite ends of the acreage.

The people of Nalthis lived on the south side, often bitter and greedy people that held grudges through generations. They had unsurprisingly been the ones to spark the conflict in the past. Meanwhile the citizens of Taldain—resided on the north side—were far more compassionate and forgiving.

Things had been sailing rather smoothly for the last couple of decades, with the districts staying on their own sides and minding their own business. However, when the princess of Nalthis had packed up and vanished out of nowhere, this understandably caused a massive uproar.

You, being said princess, had always been on the more rebellious side. Unlike your parents, you never wished to control the poor or take advantage of your power. Which is exactly why you’d been planning to flee up north, to avoid the toxicity of your homeland and start anew.

Though thing’s didn’t really go as planned when you arrived, the tattoo branding your forearm had made it rather obvious that you were a part of the royal family of Nalthis. And for safety measures, the guards had snatched you up and escorted you through the gates of the palace.

“Come in!” A rugged voice called out, signaling that it was okay with the guards to enter his throne room. The doors swung open and you were soon dropped to your knees before the steps of the platform his throne sat upon.

The kings gaze settled on you, his expression unreadable as he gave you a once-over. It didn’t take him long to recognize the ink on your arm. His eyebrows raised in both shock and disbelief. He straightened his posture, eyes never leaving your form.

“If you’re here on behalf of your father, I wish to not speak on these regards. The disagreement has been settled, and we agreed to stay distanced.”
