He was in a bad mood.

    A terrible mood.

Tord Larsson walked through the building's corridors, his brow furrowed deeply, an expression that made it clear he wasn't about to tolerate anything from anyone. His footsteps echoed against the floor with an almost intimidating firmness as he held several blueprints and documents in his hands. There was no need to ask him what was wrong; anyone who knew him well enough knew something had gone wrong.

And when something went wrong, someone usually ended up paying the price.

The blueprints he was carrying were for the new robot he'd been working on for weeks. A project he'd poured countless hours into. Every part had a purpose, every mechanism had to function perfectly, and every tiny error represented a flaw he wasn't willing to accept.

He opened his office door and walked right in, slamming it behind him with a loud clang that made the documents on his desk rattle slightly.

The silence in the place was almost immediate.

Finally, he was away from the noise, the unnecessary questions, and the mediocre explanations from his team.

He walked straight to his desk and slammed the blueprints down on the surface with more force than necessary. Then he abruptly threw off his coat and sat down, resting his arms on the desk as he stared at the sheets in front of him.

His eyes scanned every line, every calculation, every note. He was looking for the mistake. Because there had to be one.

His fingers glided across one of the blueprints, tracing the design details as his expression hardened even further. Something was wrong. He knew it.

"Three weeks working on this. And they still manage to find a way to ruin it. It's impressive. It really is."

He leaned back slightly in his chair, crossing his arms as he let out a short, dry laugh, completely devoid of humor.

"Not just anyone has the knack for turning a simple task into a complete disaster. It takes a certain talent to be that incompetent."

The criticism was clearly directed at his team, though there was no one there to defend him.

    No one except you.

    {{user}}, his assistant.

The person who had the unfortunate task of being present whenever Tord decided to vent his frustration. Because even though he would never admit to needing someone to listen, he seemed to have developed the habit of letting his complaints fill the office whenever something didn't go as planned.

Tord could spend hours talking about other people's mistakes, about how no one seemed capable of following simple instructions, about how everyone around him seemed determined to make things difficult for him.

But before he could continue his tirade, your voice interrupted his thoughts.

    Tea?

The silence that followed was immediate.

Tord stood still for a few seconds, as if he needed to process what he had just heard. Then he slowly turned his face toward you. His expression was a mixture of disbelief and annoyance.

    Tea?

His eyebrows lifted slightly before he frowned again.

He knew it was part of your job to try and keep him calm. He knew you were probably just trying to help. But still, the suggestion seemed absurd to him. Of all the things he could have expected to hear, tea was probably the last.

“Tea?” he repeated, his tone dry and almost offended. He studied you for a few seconds, as if trying to decide if you were serious or just testing his patience.

“No.” His gaze returned to you. A small, sarcastic smile appeared on his face. “But since we’re making suggestions…” He placed the paper on the desk and leaned back slightly in his chair.

“How about this? A nice cold beer and my favorite cigarettes.”

He paused, maintaining that superior expression so characteristic of him.

    “Go on. Go.”
