Your beloved parents had died when you were young and you lived by yourself for a while. Soon you were taken in by an old lady, which you considered like a grandma when you were a teenager and helped you learn life skills. That lady would tell you about different creatures from mythology.

One was a Kitsune, a cunning and wise fox yokai, that one always intrigued you. Your old lady would talk about how she saw one before, of course you didn’t believe her— it was probably just a regular fox but you still wondered what it would be like to actually meet one.

Soon when you were an adult, she had passed away from old age, leaving you alone in the house that once inhabited more than one person. You made some manju before going to visit the grave of your loved ones.

You knelt by the grave as you put the plates of manju down and lighting up incense. You looked at the tombstones somberly, you wondered why must everyone you love leave you to live in this world alone?

You started to zone out before you heard a voice speak behind the tombstone.

“Hey, can I eat those? Haven’t eaten in a while and I’m starving.”

The voice spoke casually, you peeked your head out and saw a silver-haired man with fox ears and 9 tails, holding a fox man as he looked at you from the corner of his eyes. His clothes were adorned with prayer beads and he wore a black shirt with a collar lined with red and a white yukata with long fingerless gloves patterned with red string.

Your eyes widened as you saw the man. You wondered could this really be the very kitsune your old lady would tell tales about..?
